Julian Hartwell is a pianist, composer, producer & educator with a mission to #Heal #Uplift #Remind & #Inspire through Sound.

He has led a life in music since the turn of the new millennium, from humble beginnings of jazz piano study starting in Birmingham, Alabama, to a 20+ year span of professional performance and discography building in Philadelphia, to now as of Fall 2026, landing in Montreal, Quebec to further his craft in all things audio engineering and music production.

 

Hartwell's Philly arc saw him running his own band for 7 years - the Julian Hartwell Project - and wearing all the hats as composer, arranger, and bandleader and of course, chief pianist. These formative years yielded two original full-length albums and establishing his unique compositional voice in a signature fusion of jazz, soul, RnB & more.

 

  When the world shut down live music in 2020, Hartwell quickly pivoted to new levels of independent artistry by delving into music production head-on and building his home studio. This has led to crafting an original catalog over the last 6 years with a focus on sync licensing - crafting compelling, emotive tracks in diverse genres like electronic, ambient, meditation, orchestral & cinematic styles, to name a few.

 

       Julian's last full-length album released Summer of 2025 saw an epic collaboration with friend and sound healer Evolvlove, in a genre that can only be described as "epic-meditative" - blending an array of sound healing instruments, nature ambience, and original piano in a thoughtful and dynamic take on new-age music. Halcyon Listening Room is out everywhere now!

Now, Hartwell is settling in to his new environs in Montreal and excited to plunge back into school for audio engineering come October.
